Rammstein

Rammstein (pronunciado ["ʁamʃta͡ɪn]) es una banda alemana formada en 1994 por los músicos Till Lindemann, Richard Kruspe, Oliver Riedel, Paul Landers, Christian Lorenz y Christoph Schneider. Su música se basa en el metal industrial, aunque también incorpora elementos de otros estilos. Ellos mismos han denominado en alguna ocasión esta mezcla con el apelativo de Tanzmetall ("metal de baile" . Son considerados parte de un movimiento surgido en su país en los años 1990 llamado Neue Deutsche Härte, del que son su exponente más popular y al que también pertenecen, entre otros, Oomph! y Die Krupps.

La historia de Rammstein empieza cuando seis amantes del rock se unen en esta fantástica banda alemana. Rammstein nace en enero de 1994 cuando Till Lindemann (vocalista,ex First Arsch), Richard Z. Kruspe(guitarrista, ex miembro de Orgasm Death), Paul Landers (guitarrista, ex miembro de Feeling B.), Flake Lorenz (teclista, ex miembro de Feeling B.) ,Oliver Riedel (bajista, ex miembro de The Inchtabokatables), Christoph Schneider (bateria, ex miembro de Die Firma) se unen por su amor a este estilo de música.

A principios de la década de los noventa empezaron a componer sus canciones tan próximas al metal industrial (estilo de música que triunfaba en gran parte de los mejoreslocales góticos del mundo) y , junto a unos impresionantes efectos visuales que desarrollan para sus espectáculos, consiguieron su primer contrato discográfico con el sello Motor Records.

Sus canciones están escritas casi exclusivamente en idioma alemán y han vendido más de 12 millones de copias en todo el mundo. Entre otros reconocimientos, han sido nominados en dos ediciones de los premios Grammy en la categoría de "mejor interpretación de música metal": en 1999 con el tema "Du hast" (del álbum Sehnsucht) y en 2006 con "Mein Teil" (de Reise, Reise). Han lanzado al mercado un total de seis álbumes de estudio y dos en directo, así como tres DVD; toda su discografía se encuentra disponible en el catálogo de la multinacional discográfica Universal Music.

El nombre del grupo está inspirado en la ciudad alemana Ramstein, en cuya base aérea sucedió un accidente en 1988 durante un espectáculo, en el que se vieron implicadas tres aeronaves de la escuadrilla acrobática italiana Frecce Tricolori. Dos de ellas se chocaron en el aire y otra cayó sobre el público, provocando más de setenta víctimas. En el nombre se repite la "m", de forma que incluye la raíz del verbo rammen ("chocar, hundir") junto al sustantivo Stein ("piedra"); una traducción aproximada de "Rammstein" sería por lo tanto "piedra de embestir". Aunque la banda ha tratado a lo largo de su carrera de negar una relación entre su nombre y dicha catástrofe, justo después de fundarse actuaron varias ocasiones bajo el nombre Rammstein-Flugschau ("Espectáculo aéreo de Rammstein").

The Project Hate MCMXCIX

Bueno, hoy toca este grupo de industrial death metal o technical death metal.

Qué decir, son suecos, de Örebro, el grupo se formó en 1998 y hacen música con una muy buena producción, riffs pegadizos y potentes y voces bestiales, combinando unas de las mejores voces del death (Jörgen Sandström, ex-Entombed) con voces femeninas muy dulces a cargo de Jonna Enckell. También tienen al gran genio Lord K. Philipson (ex-Dark Funeral) tocando los teclados, la guitarra, haciendo efectos sonoros y acompañando con las voces.

Poco más que decir, mi grupo favorito de death, recomendados sobretodo sus cuatro ultimos trabajos.

Opeth

Opeth es una banda de death metal progresivo sueca formada en 1990 por su compositor principal, Mikael Åkerfeldt.

Posee en sus composiciones influencias del rock progresivo, jazz, blues y de guitarras acústicas de corte clásico y folk —más notorias en su álbum Blackwater Park (2001), y Ghost Reveries (2005). Además, también se aprecia una evidente influencia del death metal, especialmente en la manera de cantar de su vocalista, Mikael Åkerfeldt, y su a veces ruda propuesta musical.

Desde la grabación de su primer disco, han lanzado 8 álbumes de estudio, dos DVDs, dos box sets, tres singles y dos álbumes en vivo. Una completa excepción de su estilo musical es el álbum Damnation (2003) que muestra un estilo absolutamente orientado hacia el rock progresivo
La banda, especialmente Mikael, ha estado muy unida (y por tanto, ha recibido muchas influencias) tanto a músicos progresivos como Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree, Blackfield, etc), como a músicos de death y doom (ha compartido grupo con Dan Swanö en Bloodbath, y actualmente lo comparte con Jonas Renkse y el señor Blackheim en el mismo grupo, también participó con ellos en el Brave Murder Day de Katatonia como vocalista).

Personalmente, es uno de los grupos más trabajados que he escuchado, por no decir el que más, y para todo aquel que le guste el death, sin duda disfrutará de las melodías, los interludios acústicos, las voces en clean, las increibles letras, las baladas y el ambiente atmosférico de esta gran banda. Totalmente recomendado.
